Perseid Meteor shower viewing

We have permission to park in the Wilco Farm Store Parking lot - this is cross corner from Barnes and Noble next to WalGreens. Address is 2717 NE Hwy 20.

We can carpool from there. Meet at 9:00pm - Carpool / Caravan leaves at 9:15. We will plan to meet at the trailhead parking lot a little after 10pm. This is NOT a hike; we setup chairs/blankets in the area next to the trailhead parking lot.

We did this past few summers and enjoyed great views of 100+ meteors over several hours. Come out east of bend with a lawn chair, blankets, thermos of coffee, and let's watch the night sky.

The location is just off highway 20 about 18 miles east of Bend near the Horse Ridge frontage road, at the Badlands Rock trailhead. (Address is approximate)

The best viewing is after midnight, and on into the morning hours but some of us have to go to work the next day. Stay as long as you want!

he Perseid meteor shower (also known as the Perseids) is active every year from mid-July to late August.
The next Perseids shooting star display will peak around the night of Aug. 12 and before dawn on Aug.13, 2026.
Though the moon will be 0% illuminated at the time of the Perseids' peak, it will set around midnight, so there will be dark skies until dawn — perfect for meteor hunting!
