## Tinker Night Meetup (Esteem × AVTL)

This day is meant to be relaxed and mostly self-organizing. There will be a little structure, but the real energy and creativity will come from you and the people who show up.
Whether you’re into art, fashion, robots, music, or you’re simply curious to build something with others, you’re warmly welcome.
We want to bring communities together, reconnect through hands-on creativity, and recreate that spark that sometimes gets lost in our day-to-day work.
There will be snacks, drinks, and plenty of space to collaborate, explore, and play.

Of course we will have some good food too. For €25 we will have drinks, a main course and a killer dessert waiting for you the moment you get hungry.

Please let us know before March 26th if you’d like to join for dinner so we can include you in the order. We like to know this upfront since we need a minimum number of orders to use this. You can let us know by filling out the following form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScdDWGmuErtaBplJAQKnXa0GFE_wqtC43Bp9fnkxFyB9f8TYA/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=111264818408631224572

👉 We’ll provide basic materials for brainstorming, but please bring your own tinkering materials for your project.
Fabric, laptop, wires, old electronics, paint — anything you’d like to use to imagine, build, or experiment.

## Collaboration: Esteem × AVTL

Tinker Nights are co-hosted by Esteem and AVTL. We share a passion for creativity, accessibility, and meaningful innovation — and above all, for community-driven entrepreneurship.
Together, we bring people from different fields together to explore what happens when design, technology, and imagination meet — and to create a space where everyone can participate, learn, and contribute.
We’re still looking for business ideas, projects, or anything you’d like input on from the group. Please contact me so I can add you to the list!

About our main guest:
Daan van Ramshorst is a creative technologist, maker and developer. He works at the intersection of technology, (open) data, AI and creativity, both as an employee and as an independent developer.
Daan is also active within the Wikimedia community, where he organizes hackathons and builds tools for Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. His interests include APIs, open data, map visualizations, AI-assisted development and making complex information accessible through interactive and creative tools.

Workshop & Live Coding: AI-Driven Coding for Tinkerers
In this interactive workshop, Daan will show how modern tools can help you move faster from idea to working prototype. Drawing from his own practice, he demonstrates how AI-assisted development, map visualization and open data can be combined into a creative workflow.
During the session, you’ll get insight into how he works with tools such as Claude Code, geodata and open data sources like Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. Through a live demo, he will build an interactive map visualization on the spot, with room to incorporate input from the audience.
The workshop is not just about technology, but also about the questions surrounding it: what can you already build today, how can you work faster using existing AI tools, and what do data, location information and privacy mean in practice?
Expect a mix of inspiration, practical technical insights and live experimentation. Ideal for makers, creatives, developers and anyone curious about what happens when code, data and imagination come together.

## Schedule – Tinker Meetup

14:00-14:30 — AVTL Tour + Welcome Drink

  • Welcome + short introduction round at AVTL
  • Who is Esteem?

14:30-16:00 — Workshop of Claude code from Daan van Ramhorst
Details will follow !

16:00–18:00 — Potential Cases + Working Time

  • Icebreaker / getting comfortable
  • Case 1: Multi-Sensory Navigation (SenseScape)
Presented by Pranav Prasun - Graduate from Design for Interaction (TU Delft), recognized with the KHMW Young Talent Award 2025 for healthcare innovation.
Pranav explored voice based multi-sensory navigation for blind and low vision users using AI in his thesis - an idea that was recognized by KHMW. Now he's exploring broader use cases: what everyday problems could multi-sensory wayfinding solve for everyone? Using tools from the preceding workshop (or your preferred prototyping method), you'll reimagine SenseScape for new contexts - from transit hubs to large public buildings, or any navigation frustration you've experienced. Come with curiosity, and maybe your stories about some interesting or even frustrating navigation.
  • Case 2: tbd

Depending on group size, we can work on several cases at the same time.

18:00–19:00 — Food!
We grab some delicious food (plus dessert after!)
and take a well deserved break.
