What we’re about
Connect in Winsford is a small, non-commercial community created to support real human connection, emotional well-being, and a sense of belonging.
We live in a world that often feels rushed, performative, and transactional. Many of us notice a quiet longing for spaces where we don’t have to impress, fix, consume, or explain ourselves — spaces where we can simply be present, together.
This group exists to meet that need, gently and honestly.
🌱 Our Intention: From Niceness to Kindness
In this community, we make a clear distinction between being nice and being kind.
Niceness often grows from fear — fear of conflict, rejection, or losing approval. It can lead to people-pleasing, over-availability, and slowly losing touch with ourselves.
Kindness, for us, is a conscious choice.
It begins with self-respect, awareness, and the willingness to act from our values rather than from social pressure.
We value kindness because it supports authentic connection, not emotional exhaustion.
🌿 Interdependence, Not Co-dependency
This is not a space where we “do for others” what they need to do for themselves.
We practice interdependence:
Each person takes responsibility for their own needs and growth
The group offers encouragement, perspective, and emotional presence
We support effort and self-direction, not passivity
We are not a chain of dependency, but a circle of autonomous people walking alongside one another.
💚 Support That Preserves Dignity
In this group, support means:
Listening without trying to rescue
Encouraging without controlling
Caring without self-sacrifice
We don’t offer shortcuts that keep people dependent.
We offer presence, honesty, and moral support, trusting that each person has the capacity to grow in their own way and time.
Sustainable care begins with caring for ourselves.
🌿 Honesty as a Form of Care
Here, honesty is considered an act of kindness.
Being honest includes:
Having boundaries
Saying “no” when needed
Being inclusive without losing oneself
Being “nice” at the expense of one’s well-being is not seen as generosity, but as something that ultimately harms both the individual and the group.
Our core belief is simple:
We don’t use one another. We grow alongside one another.
🧠 Authenticity, Attachment, and Well-Being
As highlighted by Dr. Gabor Maté, authenticity and healthy attachment are fundamental human needs.
When we can be ourselves and feel connected, we experience safety, vitality, and belonging.
When we suppress who we are to preserve relationships, inner conflict and distress often arise.
This group is an attempt to create conditions where:
Authenticity is welcomed
Connection feels genuine
Emotional and relational safety is prioritised
Growth is supported without pressure
Here, we don’t ask you to choose between belonging and being yourself.
🌼 What We Might Do Together
Our gatherings are imagined as simple, human, and nourishing.
Activities may include:
Gentle walks in nature or by the lakes
Tea, conversation, storytelling, and deep listening
Shared meals, picnics, or cooking together
Cards, games, music, movement, or meditation
Reading, creativity, silence, or simply being together
Cycling, swimming, yoga, stretching, or light sports
Sharing skills and knowledge in a peer-supported, self-help spirit
Building neighbourly connection and local kindness
All ideas are welcome.
🌿 How We Meet
Free and non-commercial
Alcohol-free, drug-free, and smoke-free — not out of judgment, but to honour clarity and presence
Phones kept away where possible
Inclusive of different ages, backgrounds, children, and animals
There is no pressure or obligation.
We may meet monthly, bi-weekly, or simply when life allows.
This is not a club, not a brand, and not a project to optimise —
just human connection that matters.
🌸 A Gentle Invitation
If you are longing for warm, genuine, and enriching connection —
for presence over perfection, kindness over status, and simplicity over pressure —
you are very welcome here.
If you feel called, please introduce yourself.
You might share what brings you here, or what kinds of connections and activities help your life feel more meaningful.
Thank you for being part of this little space.
Let’s co-create something soft, honest, and life-giving together 🌿

Evening Tea & Conversation - Alcohol Free Community Meet Up
Creating Real Connection in Winsford: Two Gentle, Alcohol-Free Meetups
🌲 Why We Are Meeting During the Winter Holidays
The period from mid-December to mid-January can be a very tender time. While it is often portrayed as a season of endless joy, for many of us, it brings a sense of high emotional and financial pressure. It can amplify feelings of loneliness, and the cultural focus on "consuming" can sometimes leave us feeling emptier than before.
We are proposing these gatherings because we believe that:
The greatest gift we can offer is our presence: Being truly heard and seen by another person is more valuable than any material object.
Health and movement are vital: Our mental and physical well-being often takes a back seat during the winter, and we want to reclaim that energy together.
Safe spaces matter: During a time when alcohol and substance use are often encouraged or even expected, we want to provide a peaceful alternative where we can remain fully present with ourselves and others.
Community is the antidote to stress: Instead of facing the "holiday blues" or financial strain alone, we can meet to share skills, interests, and quiet conversation.
Whether you are looking for a positive lifestyle change, more energy, or simply a group of people who value kindness and non-judgment over consumption, you are welcome here.
☕ Event 1: Evening Tea & Conversation
📅 Wednesday 26th February 🕕 6:00 pm 📍 Wharton Park Stonehouse, Weaver Valley Rd, Winsford CW7 3DB

💚 Our Shared Intentions
This is a non-profit, super-inclusive initiative for everyone—regardless of age, background, or origin.
Presence over Phones: We kindly ask to keep phones away so we can focus on the person in front of us.
