You may know this Fort as a site of unexploded ord-inance, while history buffs will tell you it is named after Union Army Maj. Gen. Edward Otho Cresap Ord (1818–1883). It was later used for training cavalry horses in the 1920's and '30's! All in all, we think there is nothing remotely Ordinary about it.

Hike: 7.6 miles, ~900’ TEG
Alltrails route.
Hike departs: 1:40pm.
Expect: Occasional bikers, mostly harmless.

One satisfied hiker reported: “Great trail. Bikers are friendly and will give you the heads up if more riders are making their way. Nice views overall.”

Our first visit to this trail was in April 2025, when we were treated to a wide array of spring wildflowers. This is an early year — let’s see what is blooming already!

After working up an appetite, we are likely to stop for Vietnamese food at Pho Lucky, in Marina. Final plans decided on the hike.

I’ll leave my cell # in the comments — text for last minute Qs or updates.
