Shaded Nisene Marks 10+ Miles ~1800 TEG
Details
Early start 8:00 am to beat the heat! Join us on a shady hike in the lovely forest of Nisene Marks. We'll start at the main Entrance Station and take side trails to George's, going up and around and back down Bridge CreekTrail. To cool off, we'll return on Porter Trail and cross Aptos Creek twice. Be prepared to get your feet wet! Although we tend to keep a brisk pace, it's warm and I have not taken this exact route before, so please allow 4-5 hours. We'll take a short snack break mid-way.
Detailed route estimated 10-12 miles: From the entrance station parking - Aptos Rancho Trail then Buggy Trail to George's - up to West Ridge - Big Stump Gap - Ridge Connection - Loma Prieta Grade - Bridge Creek - Loma Prieta Grade - Aptos Creek Fire Road - Porter - Aptos Creek - Aptos Rancho Trail back to parking.
Please be prepared for the heat! The trail is mostly shaded, has some steep and narrow sections, a few creek crossings, and a log bridge. Bring plenty of water, snacks, sun protection, bug spray and any other items you like to have on a hike of this distance and elevation.
We'll meet at the Main Entrance Station and start our hike promptly at 8:00am. I don't have cell or internet service in the park.
$8/vehicle day use fee to The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park, no dogs allowed on these trails. New pit toilets at the start.
