What we’re about
ConnectEd is a student-initiated community created by and for University of Tasmania online students across Australia. We're a grassroots movement dedicated to enriching the distance education experience by fostering genuine connections among peers who understand the unique journey of remote learning.
Our vision is to complement the flexibility of online education with the warmth and support of real human connection. We achieve this through a dual approach: an active online community where UTAS distance students can share experiences and resources regardless of location, alongside in-person meetups organised by members in their respective states and cities.
We're beginning with regular gatherings in Melbourne, with hopes to inspire similar meetups wherever UTAS online students are based. While we're currently an independent student initiative, we're structuring our community with the potential to become officially recognised by UTAS and TUSA in the future. To build this foundation, we're seeking engaged members, including three dedicated individuals willing to take on executive roles (President, Treasurer, and Secretary).
What makes ConnectEd special is our understanding that online students often choose distance education for its adaptability to various life circumstances. Our community honours this by offering multiple ways to participate—whether you can join local study sessions, engage in virtual discussions, or simply check in occasionally for support with challenging coursework.
