Details

Explore what grounds and uplifts you through reflective journalling and layered botanical printing in this gentle two-hour group workshop — a chance to connect, print and frame your own piece.

A reflective creative session using layered botanical monoprinting
This two-hour conscious crafting workshop invites participants to explore the theme of what sustains and uplifts them, using simple materials and a calming, layered process. Ideal for wellness events, seasonal group sessions, or community gatherings, the workshop creates space for meaningful reflection while making something personal and visually striking. No creative experience is needed — it’s open to all, and suited to anyone curious about self-care, mindfulness, and connecting with others in a relaxed setting.

Session structure
The session begins with a short guided meditation to help participants tune in to what grounds them, what sustains them day-to-day, and what brings them joy. This is followed by a journalling exercise using a simple layered “pyramid” model, allowing each person to map out their reflections on paper. Participants then create layered botanical prints using dried and fresh plants, natural papers, and gelliprint plates. The printmaking process involves building up textures and colour through multiple layers, echoing the themes explored during the journalling.

Techniques and outcomes
Participants will explore gelliprinting techniques using a combination of background and foreground plant impressions, working with natural textures and gentle colour palettes. They will be guided through layering, composition, and cropping to create a print that reflects their personal reflections. At the end of the workshop, each person will choose their favourite piece to frame and take home — a lasting reminder of what holds them steady and brings them joy.

Benefits and takeaways
This session supports mindful attention, self-reflection, and light-touch connection with others. It can be a welcome pause for people experiencing stress or busyness, or simply a gentle way to connect with others through creativity. The setting encourages casual sharing and relaxed conversation, making it a good fit for groups of adults, retreats, or anyone looking for a meaningful break from routine. The activity also fosters discovery of personal symbolism through visual layers, allowing participants to leave with both a finished piece and a clearer sense of what nourishes them.

Children aged 9 and above are welcome to attend when accompanied by an adult who is also participating, though this is not specifically a children’s workshop.
