A calming three-part workshop using paper mâché and gentle creativity to help women unwind, connect and leave their worries behind — one hot air balloon at a time.
Float Away is a relaxing, hands-on creative workshop series designed for women of all ages and backgrounds in Waterford. Held over three Thursday evenings, this special end-of-year offering invites participants to create their own vintage-style hot air balloons from paper mâché, paint and various embellishments.
The sessions are thoughtfully paced to encourage reflection and confidence-building through creative process — not perfection. In the first session, participants build their balloon forms using traditional paper mâché techniques. The second evening is for painting in calming tones of red, blue, or green and in the final session, each balloon is finished with string, buttons and ribbon, ready to hang as a lasting symbol of lightness and release.
This three-part series offers more than just a craft — it’s an invitation to slow down, share gentle conversation and be part of a welcoming creative space before the summer break. No prior art or craft experience is needed, and all materials are provided.
