Informal tea and talk with Ruth L. Schwartz, Ph.D., author of the Amazon-bestselling book *Conscious Lesbian Dating & Love, *at a cottage in the lower Oakland hills near Mills College.

Ruth will give a brief talk about the book and the Conscious Girlfriend Academy, the international online school and community that has emerged from the book, from 3:30-4:30.

Afterward, Ruth is available to answer lesbian/queer dating and love questions, talk about the upcoming Lesbian Dating Essentials online course, and just hang out and chat :)

This is a great, low-key opportunity to get to know Ruth, as well as other growth-oriented lesbians and queer folks in the Bay Area. RSVP to receive the address at a private home in the lower Oakland hills near Mills College. There is room for 20 or so on the patio. If you happen to have an extra chair to bring along, it could be helpful! Feel free to bring food and drink to share.

The patio itself is wheelchair accessible; however, there are several steps up to enter the cottage, where the bathroom is located.

Not familiar with Conscious Girlfriend Academy? Some people have called us "the best thing to ever happen to the lesbian community." Since our humble beginnings with a packed workshop at the Women's Building in SF (on Valentine's Day 2014), we have grown to become the leading global resource helping lesbians, sapphics and adjacent people empower ourselves to prevent heartbreak, date wisely and love well.

The Academy draws from cutting-edge neuroscience, attachment theory, relationship research, and decades of lived lesbian/queer experience. We're steeped in the ethos of thinkers like poet Adrienne Rich -- "This time I choose to love with my full intelligence" -- and Audre Lorde, whose classic essay "The Erotic As Power" informs our entire Lesbian Bed Life video series. We're all about being conscious, compassionate and curious.

And our classes work. Many women who've been single for years, or had a history of heartbreaking relationships in their pasts, create lasting, healthy love with the help of Academy tools.

We warmly welcome self-identified women and adjacent non-binary people of all ages, and Academy members range from 20s-80s. Our classes are a rich mix of women who've been out for decades, and women who are just coming out now in their 40s, 50s, 60s or 70s. Check out our program here. Lesbian Dating Essentials, one of our signature 12-week online courses that happens only once per year, is starting on September 19 -- so it's a great time to join!
