Hiking, Meditation & Volunteering at MARA Animal Sanctuary
Details
Join us for contemplative hiking, meditation and some light work helping out at the MARA Animal Rescue Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to horses, pigs, goats, dogs, chickens, rabbits, and more. All of whom were slated to be killed and often also sick but now have a caring home for life.
What to Expect:
- 8-9:30am Introductions and light work on the ranch
- 9:30-11:15am short hike — periods of silence and conversation
- We’ll look for a spot to do 10-15 minutes of sitting meditation on the trail
- 11:15-11:30 Closing circle back at MARA rescue
No experience necessary. Meditation instruction provided on request.
Trail Details:
- Distance: About 2 miles
- Difficulty: Easy
What to Bring:
- Water and snacks
- Appropriate footwear and work clothes
- Sunscreen and hat
- Sitting pad or cushion if you prefer (optional — the earth works fine too)
Our Approach: We'll practice mindful walking — being present to our bodies, breath, and the natural world. We'll alternate between silent walking meditation and conversation, creating space for both inner reflection and community connection.
This event is free.
