Paintings by Emma Talbot at Arnolfini
Details
After some special behind the scenes events recently, it's back to what this group does best, Saturday afternoon meanders around Bristol's museums and galleries. And I'm really excited about this one! Emma Talbot's paintings are absolutely full of narrative and expression. And she comes with quite the pedigree, having won the 2020 Max Mara Art Prize, had her work featured at the 59th Venice Biennale, and has work in the collections of big artworld brands like Saatchi and MoMA New York.
The exhibition at Arnolfini launches on 18th October, with a Private View on Friday 17th from 5:30pm. We'll be meeting at midday between 12 and 1pm at The Architect as usual. See you there!
About the exhibition
‘What is life?’ is just one of many gently probing questions addressed by British artist Emma Talbot (b.1969) in her solo exhibition Everything is Energy, in which the artist leads us through a rich eco-system of works – including silk painting installations, intimate drawings, sculptural forms (Talbot calls them ‘intangible things’) and animation – each exploring the complexity of our relationship with nature, technology and the world around us.
*Please note: It now costs £300 a year for organisers like me to run MeetUp groups, so while this group is free to attend, please consider giving a donation to support the group's running if you enjoy these events/enjoyed this event. Thank you, Dominic
