Welcome to the Continuous Delivery Stockholm March meetup!
The meetup is all about meeting like-minded people, to discuss use cases and to share experiences.
This event will consist of 1 long talk and few lightning talks (to be updated later)
Accessing resources in Google Cloud without a pre-shared secret.
A big struggle is how to handle access to Google Cloud resources outside of Google Cloud from for example on-premise. The standard way is to create Service Accounts and then extract a private key for that Service Account. This comes with a challenge of both keeping the key safe and rotating the key. This was the problem we wanted to solve when we started to investigate the SPIFFE framework. SPIFFE do not require any pre-shared secret. Instead it relies on attributes that the client sends to determine if the workload is eligible to get access to the resource. We opted for using the open source implementation of the SPIFFE specification called SPIRE. Sounds interesting? Then come to the meetup to hear how we implemented it and also how it works under the covers.
