Contra Dance and Potluck - Saturday, October 25th!

Join the Columbia Contra dance community for fellowship around a potluck meal at 6:00 pm, followed by dancing until 9:30 pm.
CALLER & BAND: Columbia caller, Dianne Palmer-Quay, will be using the role terms Larks and Robins for this evening of contra dances familiar and new. Live music will be provided by Woody and Marcia McKenzie from Virginia. The McKenzies play a variety of instruments in a unique blend of contemporary, original, and traditional tunes that are sure to set your feet
a-dancin'.
TIME: Doors will open at 5:45 to allow set up for the meal. Bring a dish to share with serving utensils. Paper goods and water will be provided. There will be a review of dance basics at 6:30 with the full dance starting at 7:00pm.
DANCE LOCATION - The dance occurs at Arsenal Hill, 1800 Lincoln St. Columbia. Free Parking can be found in the adjacent parking garage.
COST: A donation of $10, cash or check or $10.50 on Venmo
(@contracola-sc) is requested to help cover the costs of caller, musicians, and facility.
OTHER DETAILS: Children age 12 and under dance for free with a paying (and supervising) adult.
Wear comfortable clothing and soft-soled, non-marking shoes. If you are not attending the potluck, feel free to bring a snack to share for later during the dance.
UPCOMING DANCES: Our next regular dance is November 22nd but we have a special FREE dance November 6th as part of First Thursday on Main in downtown Columbia. Please come join us and help introduce contra to the wider community. Live music will be provided by Cloud 10 and local callers Victor Gascon and Dianne Palmer-Quay will be directing the dancing.
