It's almost summer! Celebrate the changing seasons and make a new friend at a Contra Dance!
CALLER & BAND: Charlotte caller, Gretchen Caldwell will be joined by Columbia band, The Outsiders (Julie Russell, Amanda Harrell, James Subosits, Dianne Palmer-Quay) for an energetic evening of allemandes and petronella twirls.
TIME: A review of dance basics will start at 6:30 to get new dancers ready to join the fun. The evening dance will run from 7:00 until 9:30 pm. Each dance is taught by the caller before the music starts and the caller keeps everyone in step during the dance, so there is no need to worry about knowing what to do next!
DANCE LOCATION - The dance occurs at Arsenal Hill, 1800 Lincoln St. Columbia. Free Parking may be found in the adjacent parking garage.
COST: A donation of $10, cash or check or $10.50 on Venmo (@contracola-sc) is requested to help cover the costs of caller, musicians, and facility.
OTHER DETAILS: Children age 12 and under dance for free with a paying (and supervising) adult. All should wear comfortable clothing and soft-soled, non-marking shoes.
Feel free to bring a sweet or savory snack to share. Water will be provided.
