MEETUP DISCUSSION: “AUTHORITY”
Saturday, May 16 at 9:30 AM
Who has the right to lead, rule, or tell us what to do?
What makes authority legitimate instead of oppressive? Why are we so suspicious of authority—and yet unable to live without it?
Every day we encounter authority:
parents, teachers, police officers, employers, governments, experts, influencers, and even our own inner sense of right and wrong. Some authority protects and helps us flourish. The other authority becomes abusive, corrupt, or manipulative.
At this Meetup, we’ll explore the concept of AUTHORITY together.
We’ll discuss questions like:
- What is authority?
- Why does authority exist?
- What makes an authority legitimate?
- Why do people resist authority?
- What happens when authority is abused—or completely rejected?
- Can freedom exist without authority?
- What does good leadership actually look like?
- How has your worldview shaped how you think about authority?
Whether you are skeptical of authority, deeply interested in philosophy and religion, or simply curious about the world around you, you are welcome.
