MEETUP DISCUSSION: “SCIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE”
Saturday, June 20 at 9:30 AM

Can science explain everything?

Science has transformed the modern world. Through scientific discovery, we have developed medicine, electricity, transportation, computers, communication technology, and a deeper understanding of the universe around us. We admire science because it works.

But are there limits to what science can tell us?

At this Meetup, we’ll explore the relationship between SCIENCE and KNOWLEDGE — asking not only what science can explain, but also what kinds of questions may lie beyond the reach of scientific investigation.
Together we’ll discuss questions like:

  • What is science actually capable of explaining?
  • Are there truths that cannot be scientifically proven?
  • What are the foundations that scientific inquiry itself depends upon?
  • Can science answer questions about morality, beauty, meaning, consciousness, or purpose?
  • Is scientism — the belief that science alone can explain reality — itself a scientific claim?
  • How do our worldviews shape the way we interpret scientific discoveries?
  • Why have many of history’s greatest scientists believed in God?
  • Can science tell us what we ought to do, or only describe what is?

We’ll also explore the relationship between science, philosophy, ethics, theology, and human identity — considering whether science is best understood as a powerful tool for understanding truth or rather as the ultimate source of all truth.
