WALKING THE KVR TRAIL FROM SMETHURST TO ARAWANA

IF THE DAY LOOKS LIKE A RAIN EVENT, IWILL CANCEL FOR NICER WEATHER FOR THE WALK AND LUNCH….CHECK BACK EARLY MORNING.

Just a short while ago we did a beautiful walk along the KVR to Little Tunnel from Smethurst in Naramata. Now we are going to walk the middle section, from Smethurst to ARAWANA. This is an interesting area with a small fast moving creek and waterfall and close to ARAWANA is the site of the old water tower used by the trains at that time.

We will not bring a lunch this time but instead we will be stopping at a lovely little Cafe (The Grape Leaf) where home made breads and soup sounds just great for lunch. It is close to Smethurst on Robinson. This is why I have chosen this location.

From Kelowna take 97/to Penticton. Continue straight to Naramata Rd, where 97 turns right to head south.Follow Naramata Road for roughly 15 km. Turn right onto North Naramata Road and take your first right on Smethurst Road. Follow until you reach the parking lot.

PS the other 2 sections were 8 and 10 k return. This should be about the same.
