Rim Rocks Trail

Details
A moderate hike of about 8 km with some unique scenery. Hike is a fairly steady up for about an hour, then level along the top of the rim with some good views. Then we'll backtrack along the rim and go down a short, but very steep, pitch onto old lava flow tracks. The trail meanders in and about on rough rock past some unusual formations and ends up at a cave. Braver members can drop down into the cave (about 20m long) for a look see. Then it is up, back through the rocks, up the steep pitch and down the trail.
Poles are a good idea for walking through the rough lava rocks.
We'll have lunch among the rocks down below. It is supposed to be pretty warm this weekend so bring plenty of water.
Trail head is about an hour from Kelowna. Meeting at 9:30 am at the trail head. Getting there is down Highway 6 from Vernon, turning right onto King Edward Forest Service Road. About 1.6 km along that road you must take the left fork. It is easy to miss this turnoff and continue down King Edward. In total, you will drive about 5.5 km on forest service roads. These forest roads are passable for regular cars (at a reasonable speed).
I will happily take up to three people to carpool. Contact me if you want a ride.
Dogs are welcome.
