WEATHER AND CONDITIONS ARE LOOKING GREAT FOR OUR SNOWSHOE. LOOKING AHEAD TO THE 21st, THEY COULD BE HAVING 20 cms OF NEW SNOW AND THE TEMPS WILL BE AROUND MINUS 9 FOR A HIGH.
This will be my last posting for NICKELPLATE this year. AND it will be on the regular moderate snowshoe trails completely different from the Claim Jump that went to the lake and the cabin. So this will be a new venture for me too. Most of the trails are east/moderate level and we will do them at an easy pace.
Following completion of the snowshoe we will drive back down to the Apex ski area for lunch at the Gunbarrel Saloon. This event does not fall under Meetup or COOC.
Directions: take 97 south through Penticton a turn right onto Green Mountain Rd ( near Cdn Tire). Go about 20 miles and turn right on Apex Rd. Go 12 kns to the ski area and keep going another 6-7 to the Nordic centre on your left. Park and walk downhill to tbe ticket booth. That is the area where we will meet with ticket in hand for 10 30am. Also for those of you 70 years and older, you just place a donation in the box at the ticket counter 😊
