We’ll start out from the main parking lot at Kelowna Nordic. From there, we will take the Snowy Cabin trail up to Log Cabin, start the fire and drop off anything we don’t need. From there, we’ll take Snowy Hemlock and then branch off to go find Long Meadow Lake and, if we have the energy, Browne Lake.

You’ll need to be a strong snowshoer/hiker for this. It is 3km to Log Cabin and then I anticipate another 3km to the Lakes, about 2 hours at a good pace. Ideally, we would head back to the nice warm Log Cabin for lunch and then back to the parking lot, making about 12 km return and 250m elevation gain.

If you aren’t a member of Kelowna Nordic, you will need to buy a day pass for $10. Bring snowshoes, poles, lunch and water. Wear lots of layers as you can really warm up when snowshoeing. Ensure you have a windproof layer, just in case.

Ideally, we would carpool, maybe from someplace in Black Mountain, up to Kelowna Nordic, about 30 minutes away.
