What we’re about
From the novice cook to the culinary pro: If you are 21 and up, love to cook or want to try some recipes, this club makes it fun--as long as you love to eat and are willing to share a homemade food dish. Do you tear out recipes from magazines & always mean to "get around to" trying them out? Do you want to sample dishes you've never tried before while meeting new people in Austin? Are you new to cooking and want to learn new techniques or recipes, or do you feel like everyone on the Food Network could learn some tips from you?
Whether you are a novice cook or a chef--if you want great food, great laughs, signature cocktails, good wine, new friends and gatherings centered around something we all enjoy - then LET'S DO THIS.
We meet monthly and everyone brings a homemade or mostly homemade food dish (complicated or super simple, doesn't matter) for the theme of that event to share; everyone also brings something to drink (sharing that is optional.)
****Important: Please post what food you will be bringing with your RSVP (or shortly thereafter) in the RSVP comment section of the event, taking care to bring something no one else is bringing, so that we have a variety of different dishes at each event and everyone shines!
To cover fees (meetup fees, name tags, to-go containers, dish tags, table pedestals, banner, yard sign, extra wines and liquor brought by organizer at special events, and taxes on luxury giveaway items at every event and other promotions and incidentals) dues are $25 per year (for you PLUS the ability to bring a friend, spouse, or partner for no extra charge as your "plus one" whenever desired.) However, everyone gets 60 days free to decide if they'd like to join. (One attendance of our fun and welcoming group gets you hooked!)
Open to any adults; we are a diverse group and anyone is welcome. Hosts are allowed to set the date/time/theme and head count when hosting. Generally, we cook our dishes at our own homes and then take the dishes to the location which is hosting the event. If you volunteer to host, your annual dues are also waived!
This is a fun and welcoming group--if you have yet to join, you are missing out on future fun and good friends. Visit us for an evening and see what we're about! Put on your apron or grill mitts and whip something up and tote a bottle of wine or something you'd enjoy drinking/sharing and let's make it happen!
Do note, all of our meetups fill up fast due to popularity, but by the day of the event we rarely ever have waitlists so get on the waitlist if you want to attend; plans change and folks will back out.
It is up to members to manage their membership subscriptions and cancel prior to membership renewal; all memberships are non-refundable. Attend just one and you'll see why we provide far more than we get in fun, food, and even luxury prizes each event!
By joining this group and attending any events, you agree to waive any and all liability. If you are drinking, we encourage you to please bring a DD or take an Uber! Also be be careful, by signing up and attending, all members and guests waive responsibility or liability for accidents or harm at any event from hosts, group, and organizer.
