Title of Talk:
Streamlining Kafka Streams Application Design with KSTD

Abstract:
Diagrams for Kafka Streams applications often lack detail, clarity, or consistency, resulting in communication issues and design misunderstandings.

This session demonstrates how KSTD (Kafka Streams Topology Design) brings clarity to complex Kafka Streams topologies.

We’ll cover the design principles behind KSTD and how to utilise its Excalidraw component library to enhance collaboration and decision-making.

Structured around a real-world use case, we walk through the detailed topology design and then live-code the skeleton topology.

BONUS: Hands-On Workshop

For everyone interested, after a break (and maybe food and drinks), we'll have an open session where we design a Kafka Streams topology from scratch.

This is like a small workshop with a project kick-off, and whiteboarding session. Everyone can contribute to the design process with ideas or join the Excalidraw collaboration session hands-on (requires a laptop) to get experience with KSTD.
