The Death of Ivan Ilyich by Leo Tolstoy

Details
Hi everyone
Thank you to everyone for showing up yesterday to discuss Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. A lot of people showed up and everyone seemed to enjoy the discussion of the book.
We had a lot of suggestions for the next book to read, 7 or so in fact. But by popular vote, Leo Tolstoy’s The Death of Ivan Ilyich from 1886 won it.
The book totals some 128 pages in the Penguin Classic version, yet it is heralded as a masterpiece of late Tolstoy and the novella art form. The book tells the story of a worldly and unreflected high court judge, who is suddenly confronted with the inevitable in the form of his own passing.
You can read more about the book here.
As this is a proper classic, there is, of course, a plentiful of audiobook versions to choose from.
For other ressources on how to get a hold of classic books, please see the About us section on the front page of the group here.
We meet up on Saturday September 13th at 4 pm at The Garden of the Royal Library. Please remember to bring your suggestion for the next classic book to read.
And please, as always, be mindful and respectful of each other, so that everyone feels respected and appreciated.
In the meantime happy reading/listening/watching or however you plan to do it.
Andreas
