What we’re about
From our former "Copenhagen Creative Writing Group" arises a new format: the Copenhagen Storytellers!
Stories are a big part of what makes us human. We communicate ourselves through stories, experience the world as stories, remember things better when put in stories, feel for and with people through their stories, and still … telling a story is nothing that comes naturally to all of us.
Being a good storyteller is a craft that can be learned and we believe the best way to learn is within a great community! This group is for everyone who is interested in listening to and telling stories. Be it for personal or professional reasons, in social gatherings, on stage, or alone in the shower, we want to practice our performance skills in order to grab our audience's attention when telling a story.
Everyone is welcome: people who never learned storytelling but feel a burning passion to send their message out into the world, professionals who want to dig deeper into how to best convey their mission, writers who want to perform their stories instead of only writing them down, performers who recite the crème de la crème of other people’s words, extroverts and introverts alike who look for methods to reform their own story and how to tell it best when meeting new people.
Note: At this point, we are not performing publicly. We are rather a social group learning from each other. There is no previous knowledge required!
We welcome everyone with an interest in the craft of storytelling, even if you never have done it before.
We are an independent group, not affiliated with any business or organization, just writers, performers, individuals who want to tell and listen to stories, discuss elements of stories, the craft of storytelling, practice together and give friendly feedback.
We don't charge anything from our members. Come join us for our next meetup :)

See all- Of Herrings and Clues - Keeping up the suspense!Øbro Jagtvej Library, København
Your story is ready, filled with twists, turns, secret identities, and a big mystery to solve. But how do you keep the balance between dropping too many clues (so that everyone already knows beforehand what is going to happen) and keeping everyone in the dark (so that the twists feel unrealistic and lazy)?
This time, we want to focus on crafting a story that's bursting with suspense, rewarding attentive listeners and taking everyone along a thrilling ride.
We will discuss how to drop in clues at the right moment and right amount, what a red herring is, and how you can use it to lure the audience onto the wrong track.
As one of our regulars calls it: Getting the audience on a hook and then dancing with it.Finally, we will be presenting our stories and giving feedback to each other.
For this meetup, we ask you to pick a ONE-MINUTE story to bring with you - be it out of your own life, pure fiction, a wonderful mixture, or even a short presentation, sales pitch, or introduction. It can be a story that you already presented in the past, as we will focus on how you are keeping the audience's attention and what to improve to make the suspense last longer.
Location (CHANGES!): We meet at Øbro Jagtvej Library, Jagtvej 227 (metro station: M3 Poul Henningsens Plads) - we meet at the coffee machine and go up to the meeting room together :) Scan your yellow card to get inside (write us if you don't have a yellow health card, so we can open the door for you).
BUT! If the weather is great, we will GO OUTSIDE to the nearby Fælledparken!
Our materials (also from past events) will be uploaded to our shared Google Drive Folder that you can access with this link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1W3LbXzJYYpVtjvHDy3oQi_Npt3Xqt20-?usp=sharing
