What we’re about
A hobby can blossom into something greater, the more you’re surrounded by likeminded people. Within this group I’m attempting to create a space where we can add to each other’s experience of pursuing a hobby, maybe with a chance to catch inspiration, a motivating environment, an opportunity to socialize around common interests, or just plainly a change of scenery. Since I didn't find a group like this that I'd enjoy, I've decided to start one.
We’ll have events both during weekdays and during weekends. Some of the ideas I have so far:
• Crafting home decorations
• Writing poetry or short stories about a specific topic
• Playing easy-to-learn board games
• Drawing based on a common theme
• Creating origami figures
Feel free to suggest other activities and to give feedback, during the events or through a private message on Meetup.
Why just indoors? --- I thought about how much to extend the scope of the activities and I found it best to limit ourselves just to indoor activities. This will give us enough liberty to practice several hobbies, and enough means to make the space safe.
The rules, during the events and during the interaction on Meetup:
- This group is meant to foster connection, community, and healthy attitude towards hobbies. The quality of our time spent in this group depends on how well we manage to create this environment.
- A positive attitude towards our work is highly encouraged. Please refrain from unsolicited critique.
- I will stick with activities that are physically and psychologically safe, but keep in mind that, ultimately, we’re all responsible for our safety. Also, if you have concerns about something, inform me, and I will do my best to sort it out.
- I won’t take any photos during the events, because I believe that everyone should have privacy by default in this group. If you wish to have pictures of your work published on the Meetup group, send them to me and I will add them.

See all- Abstract Drawing & Guessing #2 (details in the description)Hovedbiblioteket, Copehagen
Whether you're making the best out of the summer days in August, or getting in the autumn spirit of September, you may have already got some inspiration or calling for artistic expression. I propose we do another take on the Abstract Drawing art form, where we'll draw and then (optionally) let the others guess the shapes and ideas.
If you're in search of inspiration, you can also check some of the established techniques, such as:
- https://www.composition.gallery/journal/the-visual-language-of-geometric-abstraction/
As in the previous drawing meetups, a pencil and a piece of paper is enough to have with you. Feel free to bring any of your favorite drawing utensils, and to research beforehand for inspiration and techniques if you wanna apply something more specific.
In the last part of the meetup we’ll have some socializing time, and if you wish to draw something that invites to be guessed, it’s a good time to ask the others what they see in your drawing.

- Writing from a Potluck of Ideas (details in the description)Hovedbiblioteket, Copehagen
Sometimes a blockage of ideas can be passed with the right people around. This time I propose we put ideas in a “potluck” and choose from it to shape a new writing.
It’s quite simple:
- Think of 3-5 ideas for writing, they can be simple words or sentences
- Bring your ideas to the meetup, together with your favorite writing utensils (paper, pencil, pen, etc.)
- We write our ideas on pieces of paper, and we put all of them in the middle of the table (the potluck), so everyone can glance over them
- Choose what inspires you (it can be one of your ideas, another person’s idea, or multiple ideas put together)
- Begin writing the story/poem/article/or any form your wish, and see how it takes shape
In the last part of the meetup we’ll read or talk about our writing, and optionally socialize related to our hobby. For example, you may read what you wrote, and then ask the others to guess what ideas you chose from the potluck. Or, if you wish to get feedback, you may ask the others how they perceived a specific idea in your text.
