What we’re about

  • Cork Adult Neurodiverse Community is a social group for any adult (aged 18 or over) who identifies as neurodivergent. Neurodiversity includes Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and dyspraxia, Tourette Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and any other condition that causes your brain to differ from a neurotypical person.

You are encouraged to be yourself at meetups. Stimming, the use of fidget toys, disappearing for alone time, wearing headphones, etc. are all encouraged if they make you feel comfortable. As long as your behaviour is not disruptive (e.g. making consistent loud noises, not respecting others' personal space, regularly talking over others) then feel free to attend.
This is an inclusive community group, so feel free to attend if you are LGBTQ+. Clothing or accessories linking you to a religious group are also fine as long as you respect other people's faith or lack of religious beliefs. Hatred or bullying of members will not be tolerated.
This is not a support group for parents of neurodivergent children. If you are a parent who happens to be neurodivergent then you are welcome but unless otherwise stated meetups of this group are childfree.
This is a social group for independent people. There are no healthcare professionals supervising the group. As such, we unfortunately cannot provide supervised support for anyone with high support needs. If a person needs constant supervision then this is not the space for them.
Feel free to send us a message if you have any questions.
