What we’re about

  • Cork Adult Neurodiverse Community is a social group for any adult (aged 18 or over) who identifies as neurodivergent. Neurodiversity includes Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and dyspraxia, Tourette Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and any other condition that causes your brain to differ from a neurotypical person.

You are encouraged to be yourself at meetups. Stimming, the use of fidget toys, disappearing for alone time, wearing headphones, etc. are all encouraged if they make you feel comfortable. As long as your behaviour is not disruptive (e.g. making consistent loud noises, not respecting others' personal space, regularly talking over others) then feel free to attend.
This is an inclusive community group, so feel free to attend if you are LGBTQ+. Clothing or accessories linking you to a religious group are also fine as long as you respect other people's faith or lack of religious beliefs. Hatred or bullying of members will not be tolerated.
This is not a support group for parents of neurodivergent children. If you are a parent who happens to be neurodivergent then you are welcome but unless otherwise stated meetups of this group are childfree.
This is a social group for independent people. There are no healthcare professionals supervising the group. As such, we unfortunately cannot provide supervised support for anyone with high support needs. If a person needs constant supervision then this is not the space for them.
Feel free to send us a message if you have any questions.

Marina Park Tree Walk / Marina Market

Marina Park Tree Walk / Marina Market

Marina Market , Centre Park Rd, Ballintemple, Cork, IE

A group walk for neurodivergent adults from the Marina Market to the new Marina Tree Walk and back again with optional lunch at the Marina Market.

11am - Meet at the Centre Park Road pedestrian entrance to the Marina Market (just inside the building if it's raining).

We will wait around 15 minutes until around 11.15am in case anyone runs late which will give people the option of buying a takeaway drink for the walk.

Weather permitting* we will walk east (2.3km - 35 minutes' walk) passing SuperValu Páirc Uí Caoimh and on towards the Elevated Tree Walk.
Once we have explored the walk we will slowly walk back to the Marina Market.

We should be back at the Marina Market between 1pm and 1.30pm and there will be the option to have lunch in the Market.

What if I don't want to walk?
If there are enough people who do not feel like walking then they can stay at the Market for a drink and chat. There will also be an art market on in the Marina Market that day.

*What if it's raining heavily?
We will stay in the Marina Market to have a drink and chat and we can also browse the art market.

What do I need to bring?

  • Wear comfortable shoes and warm, waterproof clothes. Even if you don't go on the walk it's cold at the Marina Market.
  • Optional - bring money for snacks and/or lunch at the Market.
