Experience the spectacular Dursey Island Cable Car—the only cable car in Ireland and the only one in Europe that crosses open seawater. After crossing the dramatic Dursey Sound, we’ll spend a relaxing afternoon exploring the island, enjoying the stunning Atlantic scenery, spotting wildlife, and sharing lunch together.

The cable car operates on a first-come, first-served basis and carries only 6 passengers at a time, so we’ll meet early to help ensure the group can cross with minimal waiting.

Meet at the cable car station, introduce ourselves and take a quick group photo.

Morning
🚠 Cross to Dursey Island by cable car.

Enjoy the incredible views across Dursey Sound during the crossing.

Late Morning & Afternoon

We’ll enjoy a relaxed day on the island, including:

📸 Beautiful Atlantic viewpoints

🌿 Easy exploration around the island at a comfortable pace

🐦 Opportunities to spot seabirds and wildlife

🍽️ Lunch together (please bring a packed lunch or snacks, as food options on the island are very limited)

☕ Plenty of time to relax, chat and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

We’ll head back by cable car at around 14:30 or 15:00

Optional: If there’s interest, we can finish the day with a coffee or an early dinner in Allihies or Castletownbere before heading home.

Dursey Island is one of Ireland’s most exposed Atlantic locations, so weather conditions can change quickly.

Please bring:

⚠️ The cable car may temporarily stop operating during periods of very strong winds. If weather conditions affect the event, we’ll keep everyone updated in advance.

💡 Good to Know

  • Come solo — most people do.
  • This is not a hiking event. We’ll keep the day relaxed and enjoy the island at an easy pace.
  • Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead due to livestock.
  • As the cable car carries only six passengers at a time, there may be a short wait before everyone has crossed.
  • Public facilities on the island are limited, so please come prepared.
