Let’s finish our August Discovering West Cork series with one of the most beautiful spots in the area. 🌿🩵

We’ll spend the day exploring Lough Hyne, Ireland’s first Marine Nature Reserve, with the option to climb Knockomagh Hill for beautiful views overlooking the lough and the surrounding West Cork landscape.

Come for the walk, stay for the views, and enjoy a relaxed Saturday with good company 💚

🌿 WHAT TO EXPECT

Our main walk will be the Knockomagh Hill Nature Trail, which takes you through woodland before climbing towards the summit overlooking Lough Hyne.

Along the way, we’ll have opportunities to:

🌊 Enjoy views over the unique saltwater lake
🌳 Walk through Knockomagh woodland
📸 Stop for photos and take in the scenery
🌿 Discover the natural surroundings and local wildlife
⛰️ Enjoy panoramic views from the hilltop

The Knockomagh trail is approximately 2 km and takes around 1 hour, depending on the pace and stops. It has a steep climb and uneven sections, so comfortable walking shoes are important.

🚶 Optional easier option

If you’d prefer not to do the hill climb, you can join for a more relaxed walk around the lough instead. There are easier routes around Lough Hyne, so you can still enjoy the scenery and company without doing the steep section.
