  • Continuing on, to stages 3-6 in the Tour De France, we follow the riders to the regions of Moselle, Alsace, and then Chablis.

Of the thirteen official wine regions in Germany Moselle is the most famous. One reason for its fame is because of its Rieslings it produces. However, in general, Moselle is regarded as having the finest white wines in the world. They plant their vines on slopes in order for their grapes to take full advantage of the suns warmth and light because Moselle has a naturally cool climate.

Alsace is unique because it is wedged right in between France and Germany. This, as a result creates Alsace into a blend of both German and French culture, language, art, food, and wine. What makes Alsace stand out in the wine world is it’s “Dry Riesling”. Not the typical sweet Riesling most people are accustomed too. Definitely worth a taste or two to changes ones whole perception on Rieslings!

If there was one word to describe the region of Chablis it would be Chardonnay. The region of Chablis exclusively, only makes wines from chardonnay grapes. Creating wines that can be characterized with words such as light, dry, high minerality, and crisp acidity. While Chablis is located in Burgundy, it makes wines that are much different in style than other Burgundy wines and this has much to do with their cool climate. If you are a fan of chardonnay than this is the place for you!
