Cork|Sec 108
Details
Running since June 2013, every month we have 2 talks focused on Security or Technology - followed by socialising with like minded people – and you can find out exactly what to expect on the About Us section of our Meetup page. Past talk details are on our wiki on http://corksec.com/. All people with any sort of an interest or level of knowledge in Security, Hacking and Emerging Technology are more than welcome to attend and feel free to bring like minded colleagues and friends. CorkSec is a free event (free as in beer, and as in speech).
During COVID pandemic, talks took place on Teams, but we are now transitioning back to PHYSICAL meetups. For June we are upstairs in An Spaílpín Fánach, and we are currently discussing with some other venues to see long term options. Regardless doors / video will open at 19:00 with talks starting around 19:05. Here is what you have to look forward to already:
TALK 1: Intro to Zero Trust - Paul Horgan
Zero trust has existed as a concept since at least 2010. Why has it taken companies 12 years and a pandemic to start to take it seriously? What is Zero Trust anyway? How can it help business to function better and can it help avoid security incidents ?
TALK 2: Automotive Cybercrime - Robert McArdle
For many people in the Security Industry – the field of Automotive Security is seen as a relative recent one. But over the last couple of years we have seen a rash of different hacks of vehicles, right up to driving cars of the road. But this talk is not about that - its about what we can expect in Automotive CYBERCRIME, which will likely look a lot different.
