Details
Running since June 2013, every month we have 1-2 talks focused on Security or Technology - followed by socialising with like minded people – and you can find out exactly what to expect about the night and the venue on the What We're About section of our Meetup page. Past talk details are on our wiki on http://corksec.com/. All people with any sort of an interest or level of knowledge in Security, Hacking and Emerging Technology are more than welcome to attend and feel free to bring like minded colleagues and friends.
CorkSec is made possible through generous sponsorship from our Platinum Sponsor Trend Micro, Gold Sponsor CyberSkills , as well as our Silver and Bronze Sponsors featured prominently on the night.
Doors open at 19:00 with talks starting at 19:15. Talks below
TALK 1: Bounty Hunting on Hardware - by Patryk Glogowski
In this talk we will take a look at several devices - an Eir F2000 modem, Netgear AC1200 Wifi VDSL, Huawei B525A and more - and show how a researcher can access the flash memory of the device, gain terminal access via UART, and then begin to disassemble the application in the hunt for bugs.
TALK 2: AI@local - A RAG(s) to (data)-riches story by Maurice Cronin
The AI explosion has brought services like ChatGPT into our daily lives, offering powerful tools but raising data privacy concerns. What if you could harness this power locally without sending your data to third parties? The answer is local AI hosting.
This talk will guide you through the process of hosting an AI model on your local machine, populating a vector database with a small knowledge base, and creating a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) chatbot to query that knowledge. You'll learn how to keep your data secure while enjoying the benefits of advanced AI functionality. Whether you're a developer, data scientist, or tech enthusiast, this session promises to be both informative and engaging.
