Agenda for the Night

(18:15-19:30) OPENING TALK: LLM Mayhem - Hands on Red Teaming LLM Powered Chatbots by Jim Simpson from SANS

  • Join us in this workshop to engage in hands-on attacks to identify weaknesses in AI-driven chatbots. If you’re interested in learning about getting started in red teaming generative AI systems, this is the workshop for you.
  • Session Details:
    # Detailed Description
In this workshop we have set up hypothetical chatbots with varying levels of difficulty to walk attendees through various attack techniques. We'll model the attack after typical red team engagements we have been on in order to test the resiliency of a chatbot. The goals of this session is to give a base foundation on red teaming chatbots, understand how and why the attacks work, and provide guidance on how attendees can setup their own infrastructure to test and hone their skills after the event.
    # Outcomes and Learnings
The goal of this workshop is to familiarize attendees with the concepts of red teaming generative AI systems, why it is important, and how they can look into red teaming the chatbot’s their organizations are creating. For those who attend and do not have any knowledge of attacking LLMs, they will get the baseline understanding of how attacks work, their implications, and why it’s important to red team these types of systems. For attendees with varying levels of knowledge and experience with attacking LLMs, they will leave with examples of how we have red teamed LLMs in our engagements and other actionable takeaways on how they can enhance their learning going forward.
    # Intended Audience
We welcome any attendee who is interested in learning about the resiliency of a chatbot against an adversary set on causing it to output unintended content. No prior experience with red teaming or attacking LLMs is necessary, as we will cover the basics and ramp students up throughout the session.

19:30-19:45 Break + Free Pizzas served

19:45-21:15 Pub Quiz

  • It will be 5 rounds of 8 questions. Starts at 19:45 SHARP (if you join later, there is no way to retake past rounds, so come along early for the SANS talk too). Teams of 4 Maximum
