Doors open at 19:00 with talks starting at 19:15. Talks below
TALK 1: Metrics, Insights… and Surveillance: The Hidden Cost of Personal Health Tech by Johannes Ahlmann
Wearables now capture an astonishing range of biometrics, from glucose and blood pressure to sleep and HRV. Most of them funnel that data into mandatory cloud backends and feed third-party ecosystems. Inspired by Mozilla’s “Privacy Not Included”, this talk analyzes the data flows behind these devices, and offers practical guidance for balancing insight with the privacy you’re quietly surrendering.
TALK 2: LNK Files: The Shortcut to Initial Access by Dean Brennan
As awareness of malicious Office documents has improved, threat actors have shifted to quieter initial access techniques. This talk examines how Windows Shortcut files are abused to execute malware, why they fit so well into modern phishing campaigns, and why they are difficult to reliably detect or block, and ending with a live demo of a custom initial access malware based on North Korean samples and designed specifically to annoy SOC analysts.
