What we’re about
All events are 100% vegan. We ask that attendees bring food that does not contain any meat, fish, dairy, eggs or honey.
Cork Vegans creates various fun events to unite the people of Cork and its visitors together. Everyone is welcome! You do not need to be vegan or veggie to enjoy good company, good food and friendship.
Our events are currently organised and hosted by 5 group members, Sonya, Mike, Laura, Ruth and Emma - as well as the support of members who offer to provide talks and activities. If you have an idea for an event, a social attitude to host or perhaps an interesting skill or activity to share we are always looking to find ways to collaborate with all members to help build a stronger community together. We'll explore the best of Cork to learn and grow together as a community, which is essential for a long happy life.
Below you can check out information from our past activities. Please send us a message with ideas of what you would like us to do as a group, what your heart and mind needs, to simply say hello or if you have any questions about the group, veganism or related information. This is a safe and open space.
Look forward to meeting you!
Thank you for the best years of our life! Here are some of our past experiences:
Cork Vegans Meetup launched Saturday 16th of April 2016 with just 2 attendees driving to Galway for a Cool Vegan Festival, 1 week later we had over 23 attendees eating a Vegan dinner in the Quay Co-op, thus Sociable Saturdays was born & officially our favourite day of the week!
By 11th of December 2016 we had reached 300 members & we were over the moon. So many cool people in one city! Here is just a snippet of what happened during the first 3 + 1/2 years of Cork Vegans and Veggies [Everyone Welcome]
❤️ Cork Vegans supported & were supported by more than 35 different Vegan friendly businesses in Cork
🧡 We enjoyed all the delights & getting to support 8 different local markets
💛 Collaborated with 12 different activist groups, initiatives and events as well as tons of our own campaigning for Veganism & fundraising for over 9 different Irish charities
💚 8 kind individuals opened up their homes to us teaching Vegan cooking, hosting potlucks, screenings & outdoor adventures. 2 other awesome individuals hosted other cool Vegan events
💙 So many long term friendships were made, lots of learning from those passing through the city, activists were born and others were empowered, evolving their activism
💜 Many birthday parties celebrated & even 1 big Vegan Christmas was spent together
💚 2 Vegan businesses launched
🧡 A discount card was created for 2018 as well as lots of educational materials created & distributed for free around the city
We have since relaunched the group and so much has happened already. Excited for the months and hopefully years ahead if we can get enough members interested in taking an active role in this community. Looking forward to seeing you at our next event!
