CCSC GLORIETTA BAY SAIL AND GAYLORD HOTEL 051725

Details
RSVPs are now open. Sign up as soon as you can, if you want to join us for some unique fun.
For the sail, we're going to go to Glorietta Bay and anchor there and relax. I'm planning to lower the Portland Pudgy, (My yellow dinghy) into the water and putz around for fun. I have this new motor that I want to try out! The weather should be reasonably nice and no rain is predicted so we should stay dry.
Please note the revised start time of 11 am until 4 pm. The Meetup starts at 11:00 when you board so that's the time you need to be at the launch ramp.
After we get back from the sail, at 4 pm, we will rendezvous at 5 pm at the Galley Restaurant parking lot on the corner of Sandpiper and Marina Parkway.
I'm going to need an hour to take Neko back to her slip and button things up. So, at 5 pm and once we're all together, we'll just walk, about a half a block, to the New Gaylord Pacific Hotel as this is their opening day weekend. I've been trying to reach them but can't get through so I don't know if we can use their water park but I do know that the water park closes at 7 pm. As a result, I don't know if we can go down the water slide or float on the lazy river but it should be fun to check out the overall facility as a group. I suggest you bring a bathing suit, just in case in a hand bag (or wear it under your street clothes) along with a towel in a bag. After the hotel visit, we can play it by ear and if the group wants to hang out or go do something else, let's discuss that during the sail.
If you want to skip the hotel, you're welcome to depart when we get back to the launch ramp. However, if you just want to check out the hotel with us and skip the sail, just let me know and I'll just keep you on the wait-list and you can join us at 5 pm.
I will try to keep the sail on schedule but there is no guarantee that we will be back at the scheduled time due to unforeseen events that could occur, so only sign up if your end time can accommodate possibly being later. But if you're going to the hotel afterwards, it won't matter to you!
New members still have priority with a desired goal of at least 3 newbies per sail. However, we'll see how it goes and the repeat rule is waived on this event.
While we're excited to be going sailing, I still suggest that you dress warmly as it's always cooler on a boat, on the water.
GENERAL DIRECTIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS
We will meet at the location specified on the Meetup RSVP site. Please review the destination and note the RSVP start time is the boarding time and we'll leave after everyone has boarded.
Please don't be late or you will hold everyone else up or may even miss the boat. Call me if you need directions. Park in the spaces for cars, not trailer vehicles, or you will get ticketed or towed.
If you are not at the pickup point by 15 minutes before the departure time, your confirmed space may be given away to anyone on the Waitlist (If there is even one) that takes the time to show up and is ready to go. So for you on the Waitlist, you are welcome to show up because you might get onto the sail. However, if you don't get onto the sail, I will automatically put you onto the next scheduled sail. After you sign up on meetup, message me through meetup with your cell phone number if I don't already have it so that I can reach you if there is a change of plans or something unexpected happens. I will message you privately and provide my cell number to you once I get yours. NO NUMBER, NO SAIL.
SHOES POLICY
CARRY a clean or unworn pair of white-bottomed shoes or non-marking boat shoes to wear on the boat. Wear a SEPARATE pair of street shoes or flip flops to walk to the boat and plan to leave them in a box kept on the boat. Dark soled and street shoes leave track marks and bring dirt onto the boat and will not be allowed. However, if you prefer to go barefoot as I do, just leave your shoes in the receptacle provided and climb aboard!
SAFETY
Safety/orientation briefing for the entire group starts after all are onboard and present and we'll cast off after the briefing is over. It's ok to be early but don't be late or you'll miss the boat. If you haven't sailed with me recently, you must attend the safety/orientation briefing.
CONSUMPTION
Please bring something to eat, drink or share in a potluck format because it adds a festive air to the sail. There is a large salon table where we can lay out all food items and there will be a large cooler with ice to keep drinks cold. There is no restriction on alcohol quantity or type except red wine is only allowed in the cockpit, not in the salon. There is also a full head on the boat so you don't have to "hold" it the whole time. It is best to also dress in layers as it WILL be cooler if the wind picks up or in the evening. If the wind slows, you can always peel off layers as it can be warmer in the sun.
LIABILITY WAIVER
Please note that you will be required to sign a Release of Liability waiver to participate in this and future sails. Let's go sailing!
