Double Bypass Loop - Indian Peaks Wilderness - Option 2

This permit-required hike is limited to 6 total people. Dogs will only be considered if they have completed a qualifying hike.

Please note, we have not yet secured a parking permit for this trip. I will update this posting as parking is confirmed.

You will be put on the waitlist before being approved. Those meeting the first two below-required actions will be moved off the waitlist in the order in which they RSVP'd.

2 - *Complete a qualifying hike. There are no more qualifying hikes before this event. If you have not qualified as of June 28 (our last qualifying hike) you will not be able to join this trip.

The Plan:
Day 1:
Arrive to the trailhead by 9 am.
NOTE: We have not secured parking yet for the trailhead we are planning to park at. I will update this info once I secure a spot. We will likely only be able to get ONE spot and will carpool in a larger vehicle.

Hike: distance: 13.5 // range: 9782' to 11839' // gross: +2966'-3039'
Camp just beyond Buchanan Pass.
Sunrise: 6:14 am // Sunset: 7:59 pm

Day 2:
Hike distance: 8.5// range: 8790' to 10690' // gross: +1185'-1660'
Optional hike to Crater Lake:
distance: 2.5 // range: 9942' to 10404' // gross: +577'-581'
Sunrise: 6:15 am // Sunset: 7:57 pm

Day 3:
Hike distance: 9.5 // range: 9944' to 12542' // gross: +2641'-2166'
Grab lunch and drive home.

Equipment/Resources/Etc:

• Bear canisters are highly recommended for this trip per Indian Peaks Wilderness. They are required near trailheads. Bear hanging may be difficult in some of the areas where we will be camping. Bears have gotten into food in Cascade Creek BZ where we will be camping.
