For years, fireball activity had been steady. The American Meteor Society's reporting system has been stable since around 2016 to 2018, with normal year totals running consistent and predictable.
Something shifted in early 2026. By the end of Q1 (January 1 through March 24), the AMS logged 2,046 total fireball events, the highest first quarter on record in their 15 year data series.
* Sasquatch was seen quite a bit in Ohio (six sightings in four days) between March 6
and March 10, 2026.
*In the middle of that time, on March 8, a massive fireball appeared over France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
