What we’re about

The Vairocana International Buddhist Meditation Center is an international community of Koreans and foreigners who are interested in practicing Korean Seon (Zen) meditation and studying Buddhism together.

The Vairocana International Meditation Center was founded in 2006 by Jawoo Sunim, a Korean bhikkhuni (Buddhist nun) who is working to make traditional Korean practices easily available to foreigners in English.

Every Sunday at 3:00 p.m., there is meditation practice which is open to anyone - beginners and seasoned practitioners are all welcome. During this time, there are two 20-minute periods of sitting meditation, led by Jawoo Sunim. In between the sitting periods, there is sometimes walking meditation and always a chance to ask questions about meditation practice.

After the practice, you can stay for tea and discussion or an occasional walk in the mountains. It's a great opportunity for sharing, asking questions, and learning about Korean Buddhism and culture.

So if you are looking for a peaceful and quiet place in the big city of Seoul where you can practice meditation and explore Korean Buddhism, please join us sometime!
