Oktoberfest is a world-famous, 16-day festival held annually in Munich, Germany, celebrating Bavarian culture, particularly its beer and food. It originated in 1810 as a royal wedding celebration and has evolved into a massive event featuring beer tents, traditional music, Bavarian costumes, and carnival rides. The festival is known for its lively atmosphere, communal singing and dancing, and the consumption of specially brewed Oktoberfest beer. While primarily a beer festival, it also includes a family-friendly side with various attractions.
