About us

Hi everyone!

This is a group to meet up with like minded people, with the goal to make friends, and have regular socialisation. I have autism, and though anyone is welcome, this is going to be a group with a few goals. One is that this is a sober group. No partying. I am what they use to call 'straight edge', (no drinking, smoking, or drugs, this includes weed) and I am looking to connect with similar people who are tired of the partying scene. I will start with something simple just to break the ice, but the aim is to expand upon that, meet up in other public places, low key, and also when comfortable, at other people's houses for example. As I've stated, though this is not an exclusive group, for example, we will not discriminate, or tolerate things like sexism, racism, ableism, homophobia etc, it's a group trying to connect people interested in similar things.

I align a lot with an hsp (highly sensitive person) and dislike crudeness. Some of those interests are, as suggested in the name, things considered 'cottage core'. Cottage core can expand into many other genres ie: witch core, dark academia. Examples may include having tea parties, or dinner parties, getting together to play games or do crafts, share hobbies, or watch films, or TV. Going to a café. Things you may call 'geeky' for example, I'm a sci-fi/fantasy fan. I like Star Trek, and I also enjoy Minecraft, and other games. I like to travel, and I'm not an outdoors person however, though I do like gardens, and casual walks. Things like mystery events, or cultural events are also a possibility. I use to live in England, and I can share some culture from there. Reading, writing, playing board games, gardening, and more are possibilities.

I am currently attending CR with a major in political science so I'm also looking to connect with people environmentally conscious, and one of those things for example is being against the problem of wood smoke pollution in the area. I want to get away from the conspiracy theory driven, fake 'off the grid' scene. The way forward is sustainable urban areas, and similar to 'solar punk', though I'm not an anarchist. I'm not a fan of USA culture. I've been heavily involved in politics most of my life, and abroad, and would like to live abroad again. My 'tribe' will be people who don't really like it here, who look around, and don't feel they fit in. I am a mother, and I have a cat. I am allergic to dogs, sorry. Some things I love include but are not limited to- Anne of Green Gables, Ninjago, Cosy Mysteries, East Asian culture, Travel, Christmas.

My goal is to form 'intentional friendships', more like what use to be the norm a few decades ago. Not just endlessly texting one another, and too busy to squeeze someone in. But really being present in each other's lives. I picked some categories that I thought were relevant. If it's not on the list, it doesn't mean I'm not interested in it. My profile let me select a lot more interests if you want to have a look.

Please note- **Though I intend to keep things casual, I do ask that members please attempt to engage. This is not a group to sign up, and never attend anything while it just fizzles out. Please sign up if you are serious about taking part. Join in on discussions, and post suggestions, they are welcome. :) People put effort into creating, and organising things. They take time off, get childcare, and rearrange their schedules to do so. This group is to socialise, and that means being involved. Thank you.
