“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”
For our next read, we will discuss Stephen King’s classic supernatural thriller The Shining on Saturday 27th September.
About the book:
- The Shining was published in 1977 and famously adapted to film by Stanley Kubrick.
- Stephen King considers The Shining to be the pivotal work in his development as a writer, with psychological depth not found in his earlier novels.
- Although The Shining is primarily a ‘supernatural thriller’ (or an upmarket ghost story), please bear in mind that the novel contains very intense ‘real world’ themes that some readers may find challenging.
About the event:
- Location: The Mad Hatter Pub, 3-7 Stamford St, London SE1 9NY
- Timing: Saturday, Sept 27th, 3-5pm. It’s approximately 15 minutes walk from Waterloo station along the river. I'll have a sign on the table and a copy of the book so it should be easy to spot where we're meeting.
- Please update your RSVP if you are unable to attend so that other people can join. The Mad Hatter is a great venue, so let’s be good guests and each buy a drink or a snack.
See you there!
