Contemplative Soundscape

Details
Cotham Club is hosting brilliant, monthly concerts with the aim of creating Community through Music.
Our September gig is going to be really special...
This time we’re connecting to nature with a CONTEMPLATIVE SOUNDSCAPE created by Hyelim Kim and Piotr Jordan. Hyelim is a daegeum bamboo flute player, a fellow at Bath Spa University and part of an ancient Buddhist tradition of music making in nature. Piotr Jordan is a hot 'fiddler on the roof' Polish violinist.
The other performers are…song-birds! Bristol sound engineer Pete Warner and Cotham Club curator David Mowatt plan to record a dawn chorus later this week at Avonview Cemetery in Redfield. Hylelim and Piotr will improvise their responses in turn, whilst audiences are invited to sit or lie down, eyes closed in silence, at this meeting of Nature and Culture.
Book now to join us at the Cotham Club, Cotham Parish Church, BS6 6DR on Friday 23rd September 7.30pm Tickets from hdfst.uk/E77647
Not only is the music-making novel but you are invited, if you wish, to arrive in unusual ways... We have 3, free, locally-organised walks that will bring you to the venue: the aptly named Julia Bush takes a silent group round the beautiful Royal Fort Gardens at the university's Woodland Road entrance at 6.20pm; famous (and usually pricey) forager Andy Hamilton (author of 'Booze For Free') meets his walkers at 5pm at the Redland Park coffee for a mystery wild food forage on Cotham's Streets; and green activists can team up with tree huggers and learn how to save trees with the veteran Baltic Wharf tree brides, meeting 5pm at the Cascade Steps in the City Centre.
If you've not come to Cotham Club before then these are super relaxed evenings with great music, a good-value bar, free nibbles and a very friendly vibe.
You can buy a ticket - go to hdfst.uk/E77647 - or help with the set up for which you get a free ticket and the company of the lovely steering group members. Direct message me if that sounds like you!
