This is a classroom-based course offering an introduction to honey bee biology and basic approaches to beekeeping. The course will include: an overview of honeybee biology in order to understand the challenges facing honey bees, and an overview of the basic equipment and techniques necessary to be a successful beekeeper. The goal is for students to learn how to keep bees for the first year. There may be an opportunity for an onsite apiary visit if the weather permits for interested students who have protective gear. The class is taught by Joe Zgurzynski, a certified Master Beekeeper and Pennsylvania honey producer with over 30 years of beekeeping experience. Beekeeping equipment is available for purchase as part of the class. We will wear masks during the indoor portion of the class.
Course fee is $115. Pre-Registration is required by completing and returning the registration form. Click the link to print the form.
