Juneteenth: A blend of (June and Nineteenth).

HISTORY Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. It marks the day in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to ensure all enslaved people were freed, 2 1/2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
