About us
You want to make friends, but not badly enough to wear real pants. You want to go out, but bars are too loud. You want to have fun, but a nap also sounds pretty good.
Your heart says yes, but your social anxiety says no, and your brain says "What if there's no parking??"
Forget the nightclub. It's time for Cozy Lounge, where sweatpants are appropriate attire, and there is definitely parking. We created Cozy Lounge to build community without having to spend money, dress up, drink alcohol, watch sports, or adopt a religion. (Cozy Lounge is not affiliated with any church. We just rent space from a church, because it is lovely, as you can see in the photo.)
Every other Friday, we get together to hang out. That's the entire plan, which is to say there is no plan.
We eat pizza. We show each other pictures of our plants, cats, dogs, and kids. We color with glitter pens. We do crossword puzzles. We play Mario Kart and Dance Dance Revolution. We chat about books and films and memes. We tell stories. We debate the existence of free will. We brainstorm our options for insurance fraud. We accuse each other of being undercover cops. We threaten to harvest each other's kidneys. Most of us are joking.
If you want to sit quietly and play a game on your phone, you can. If you want to join the conversation and make new friends, you'll have plenty of opportunity.
Our code of conduct is simple: we expect every participant to uphold our values of kindness and respect. Anyone can do this, regardless of their personal beliefs. Like all humans, sometimes we make mistakes. But we also talk about those mistakes, and do better next time.
All events are free. Introverts and extroverts alike are welcome. You must be at least 18. Lots of activities are provided, or you can bring your own. We always have pizza, but we recommend bringing your own drink (the tap water is not gourmet). Please leave the alcohol/marijuana/etc. at home. There's nothing wrong with that, Cozy Lounge is just not that kind of party.
