Dealing with the Canada Revenue Agency collections department can be a daunting task. This is because they don’t operate by the same rules as private sector collectors, which leaves taxpayers and their representatives in the dark.

We will discuss the unique nature of the CRA collector, the awesome and broad powers that are available to the collectors, and techniques which can be used to hold off collections and to negotiate a payment arrangement.

Judicial review of the decisions of collectors will also be touched upon.

Our Speaker: Dale Barrett is the Bestselling author of “Tax Survival for Canadians: Stand up to the CRA”, a tax columnist at the Lawyer's Daily, and the General Editor of the Family Law Handbook published by Lexis Nexis.
