Rejuvenating Old Code: Converting Visual Basic 6 Code to Modern C++

Details
Join us at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 2nd as Tim Simpson presents "Converting Visual Basic 6 Code to Modern C++"! Doors will open at 6:30 so please arrive ahead of time so we can get ready.
In this talk Tim will walk through the process of converting a game written in 2001 using Visual Basic 6 to C++. The task of adopting an alien, legacy code base lacking proper testing, documentation, or in this case, even usable release artifacts, is one many of us have encountered in our careers. Tim will describe how to successfully resurrect ancient code in a new language, even when it's nearly impossible to tell what that code was doing. He'll also give a brief overview of using SDL2 and OpenGL ES2 to write ultra-portable game code that runs with Emscripten.
Tim Simpson currently works at Rackspace as part of the Managed Security team. He's also the current organizer of the Austin C/C++ Meetup as well as part-time salesperson for Hyper Basic. His lawyers wish to inform you that he is not familar with Visual Basic 6, Selenium, or Macromedia Install Shield, and that any rumors spread to the contrary will be considered slander in a court of law.
The talk will take place at Rackspace's Austin office, located on the East side of IH-35 right before Rundberg and after Henna Chevrolet (there is a sign for Rackspace which is visible from the highway). Feel free to park in the same lot as the big Rackspace flag.
