This talk will be an introduction to C++ programming styles on different classes of embedded systems, down to bare-metal 32-bit ARM. Motivated by the goal of writing a general-purpose messaging library, we will investigate portable techniques for serialization, socket management, threading, and memory allocation that can scale down to small systems.

Jackie Kay is a software engineer at Marble Robotics, formerly of the Open Source Robotics Foundation, who has contributed to the ROS framework and Gazebo physics simulator. Her non-programming hobbies include martial arts, rock climbing, and hiking.
