C++ Serbia Picnic

Hi everyone!

We're calling it a picnic. Bring an appetite anyway — the grill is on. 🔥

Forget the lecture hall: this August we are trading slides for smoke. C++ Serbia is firing up a proper roštilj in Košutnjak, under the trees, and you are invited. Same spot as last time, same hour, considerably more charcoal.

Coals lit at 18:00. First ćevapi off the grill shortly after. We keep the fire going until the meat runs out or the sun does — whichever comes first.

## Two Kinds of Grilling

Let's be honest about what this event is.

The first kind happens over charcoal, and produces ćevapi.

The second kind happens the moment you mention, out loud and within earshot, that you have "pretty much got a handle on move semantics." Someone will put down their plate. Someone will ask what happens to a moved-from `std::vector`. Someone else will bring up guaranteed copy elision, and then it is 22:00 and the coals are cold and you are drawing object lifetimes on a napkin.

Both are done at medium-high heat. Both are best enjoyed with a cold drink. We are providing the equipment for one of them and the audience for the other.

Nobody leaves undercooked.

## What's on the Grill

• Ćevapi, pljeskavice, and sausages — off the coals, straight onto your plate.
• Grilled veggies and halloumi — a full setup for everyone who doesn't do meat. You will not be stuck eating bread and salad.
• Salads, bread, ajvar, kajmak — the mandatory supporting cast.
• Cold drinks — beer and non-alcoholic, in the cooler, in the shade.

Tell us about any dietary requirements when you RSVP and we will make sure there is something on the grill for you.

## Who Should Attend

Anyone who writes C++, used to write C++, wants to write C++, or simply enjoys the company of people who do. First-timers especially welcome — it is a lot easier to say hello over a grill than across a lecture hall, and we promise the questions are friendlier than the ones in a technical interview.

Bring your hardest C++ question. Bring your worst production war story. Bring an opinion about how the meat should be turned — everyone else will have one too, and that argument is at least as old as the language.
